| I made this quilt in the spring of 2012. It has birds, trees and bright spring colors. I simply named it "Springtime" |
| Made in 2012 for granddaughter Ashlie's 3rd birthday. It was a Princess quilt and not only was there a quilt and pillow for Ashlie, but I also made a matching doll quilt and pillow for her baby doll. |
GRANDMOTHER'S FAN PATTERN: This was one of my first quilts. Made it in 2004/05 for Nome Novak. This was entirely stitched by hand...no sewing machine. I pieced it by hand and quilted it by hand. It was a gift to my mother-in-law for her birthday.

This was an antique quilt top that was already pieced.
Purchased it in an antique shop and quilted it.
Not the prettiest quilt in the world, but Tanya and I
often purchased old antique quilt tops that someone never
had time to complete & we quilted them.

I hope the information above this picture can be enlarged enough
for you to read. Tanya quilted this quilt top that I purchased
for her on Ebay. We were both excited about this one as
the lady who had pieced the quilt top together was born between
1812-1814 and lived on the prairie in South Dakota. This picture is
after she had completed quilting it. She did a beautiful job and because of
its age, is her proud possession.

These two quilts shown in the 3 pictures above were
the most fun of any I have ever quilted. Tanya made the quilt
in the top photo (and upper left in bottom photo), and I made
the other one. We bought vintage fabrics from the 1930's/40's
and divided it up equally between us. The rules were that we each
would make a quilt using only white fabric as an additional color. We
could use any pattern we wanted. So the fabrics are identical in both
quilts, but they have totally different looks. Tanya opted for a 9-patch
and I did an Ohio Star. They were completed in 2008.

This quilt has a story...one of my first attempts at
quilting. I call this my "Ciampino Quilt"...named after
a town in Italy that we lived in. The blue fabric in the
quilt is from a brand new bed sheet that I bought there. I put the
sheets on the bed for the first time and we left for Rome. When
we came home, we found our house had been broken into. All
of our electronics were stolen, our cameras, video cameras, etc. The
thieves took one of the pillowcases from my bed to use to carry away
their "loot". I never was able to find matching pillowcases again. So this was
a practice quilt to learn hand quilting and I cut up one of the sheets for the quilt....
called it Ciampino (Cham-pee-no) in memory of the day my pillowcases from my
new sheets were stolen to carry away all of our electronics!
